Municipal and hospital press have reported annual throughput above 1,000 in recent years and indication expansion from a trial set of seven to 50-plus tumour types. Case-mix reporting has emphasised nasopharyngeal and other head-and-neck tumours, skull base, selected lung, prostate, pancreas, liver and breast, plus rare indications such as choroidal melanoma. Particle therapy is considered when dose to organs at risk is the limiting factor. Many common cancers are still treated appropriately with IMRT/VMAT.
