Hospitals in China for International Patients
China has major academic hospitals, specialist cancer and cardiovascular centers, and dedicated international medical departments. The right hospital depends on the diagnosis, specialty, treatment goal and whether that hospital can realistically receive an overseas patient.
How to Use This China Hospital Directory
A famous hospital is not automatically the best fit for every cancer, heart condition, neurological disease or rare disorder.
Look for an international department, foreign-language service, appointment method, passport registration and inpatient process.
Where possible, send pathology, imaging and treatment history before booking flights so the correct department can review the case.
International departments, VIP wards, private hospitals and public-hospital special services may use very different billing structures.
Hospitals in China by City
We are building Parkmega as a city → hospital → specialty → doctor graph. The first three city hubs are Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou because they combine major tertiary hospitals with identifiable international-patient pathways.
Strong for complex diagnosis, cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience, hematology, orthopedics, reproductive medicine and many national referral specialties.
Browse Beijing hospitals →Strong public academic hospitals plus a mature international medical-services ecosystem with multilingual care and commercial-insurance links at selected centers.
Browse Shanghai hospitals →Especially relevant to oncology: a major university cancer center with an International Medical Center and an internationally oriented specialty cancer hospital.
Browse Guangzhou hospitals →China Hospitals: Quick Comparison for International Patients

Hospitals in Beijing for International Patients
Beijing’s official foreigner medical guide lists a growing group of institutions providing full-process foreign-language services. For Parkmega, the first Beijing profiles should focus on hospitals where medical differentiation and international access are both clearly documented.
Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH)
PUMCH has one of China’s longest-running International Medical Services programs. Its official English materials provide a dedicated international-patient appointment route, English-facing booking, inpatient services and a 24-hour IMS emergency center.
Fuwai Hospital
Beijing’s official international medical guide identifies a dedicated International Medical Department at Fuwai, with multiple service languages and emergency availability. It is a natural first review target when the central question is cardiovascular rather than general medicine.
Beijing’s government medical guide describes Tiantan’s International Medical Center as a comprehensive clinic with neuroscience as its major specialty. Listed service languages include English, French, Japanese and Russian. The same source says the international center does not provide emergency services.
Peking University People’s Hospital
Beijing’s official international medical-services profile highlights hematology, thoracic surgery, rheumatology, obstetrics/gynecology and orthopedics and lists English, Russian, Japanese and Korean service languages.
Peking University Third Hospital
Beijing’s government page lists an International Medical Service and highlights 27 national key clinical specialties, including sports medicine, orthopedics, rehabilitation medicine and reproductive medicine.
Hospitals in Shanghai for International Patients
Shanghai’s municipal government maintains a dedicated international-medical-services directory. This makes it especially useful for verifying service languages, contact routes, specialty departments and commercial direct-pay arrangements rather than relying on third-party medical-tourism claims.
Shanghai’s official listing identifies English service, a broad specialty mix and an extensive direct-pay insurer list. Ruijin is especially relevant to Parkmega because it can connect the hospital entity to hematology, endocrinology/diabetes and complex general medical cases.
Shanghai’s official profile says Zhongshan excels in cardiovascular diseases, liver cancer, renal and pulmonary conditions and lists personalized MDT and remote consultation among its characteristic services.
Huashan’s own International Medical Center says it has operated international medical services since 1989. Shanghai’s government directory also lists English service and departments including neurosurgery, neurology, dermatology, infectious diseases and hand surgery.
Renji Hospital
Shanghai’s government profile lists English, French, Japanese, German, Polish, Ukrainian and Russian service languages and highlights gastroenterology, liver surgery, urology, reproductive medicine, cardiology and oncology.
Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center (FUSCC)
Fudan University describes FUSCC as a university-affiliated comprehensive cancer center with multidisciplinary cancer treatment combining surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other modalities. For international patients, access and the exact appointment path should be confirmed for the specific department before travel.
Hospitals in Guangzhou for International Patients
Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC)
SYSUCC operates an International Medical Center and publishes guidance for overseas patients. Its International Office says it can explain admission procedures, advise on visas and review medical files before arrival to determine whether treatment may be possible. The center also makes clear that a final treatment plan is not necessarily provided before arrival.
Fuda has a dedicated international-patient model and is particularly associated with minimally invasive and interventional oncology. Parkmega already has a detailed hospital hub plus separate cost, treatment and reputation pages, allowing Fuda to act as the first complete hospital entity in this new China-wide directory.
Find a China Hospital by Specialty
This is where Parkmega can outperform a simple hospital directory. The hospital entity should connect directly to disease and treatment pages that already answer the patient’s medical question.
Cancer Hospitals in China
SYSUCC, FUSCC, Fuda and disease-specific public centers should be compared by cancer type, surgery, radiation, systemic therapy, intervention and trial relevance.
Diabetes Hospitals in China
Hospital selection differs for Type 1, Type 2, metabolic surgery, complications, transplantation and research/trial questions.
Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery
Fuwai should anchor the cardiology entity cluster, with Zhongshan, PUMCH and other centers added according to procedure and disease fit.
Dedicated specialty hub is next in the build queue.
Neurosurgery & Neurology
Tiantan and Huashan provide strong entity anchors for brain tumors, cerebrovascular disease, functional neurosurgery and complex neurological conditions.
Dedicated specialty hub is planned after the city hubs.
Hematology & Cellular Therapy
Peking University People’s Hospital, Ruijin and disease-specific CAR-T centers should be connected to lymphoma, leukemia and cellular-therapy pages.
Orthopedics & Reproductive Medicine
Peking University Third Hospital and selected Shanghai centers provide useful hospital anchors for later specialty expansion.
Add only when supporting disease/service pages are ready.

How Parkmega Matches a Patient to a Hospital in China
Classify the case
Diagnosis, pathology, stage, biomarkers, imaging, symptoms and prior treatment establish the real medical question.
Build a hospital shortlist
We choose institutions based on the relevant specialty, technology, surgeon/team or disease-specific program.
Verify international access
International department, appointment route, remote review, language, admission pathway and current availability are checked.
Compare plan + cost
Only then should the patient compare treatment proposals, likely stay, written estimates and travel logistics.
Not Sure Which Chinese Hospital Should Review Your Case?
Send your diagnosis, pathology, recent scans and treatment history. We’ll identify the relevant hospital type, shortlist suitable centers and check which international-patient route makes sense before you book travel.

Frequently Asked Questions
Direct answers to common questions about finding and accessing hospitals in China as an international patient.
There is no single best hospital for every international patient. PUMCH is an important option for complex multi-specialty cases; Fuwai is highly relevant to cardiovascular disease; Beijing Tiantan to neuroscience; major Shanghai hospitals such as Ruijin, Zhongshan, Huashan and Renji have established international-service pathways; and oncology patients may consider centers such as SYSUCC, FUSCC or Fuda depending on the diagnosis and treatment question.
Yes, many Chinese public hospitals provide care to foreign patients, and some have dedicated International Medical Departments or Centers. The exact registration, passport, language, payment and inpatient procedures differ by hospital, so the international-patient route should be verified before travel.
Beijing’s official medical guide for foreigners lists dedicated international services at institutions including PUMCH, Fuwai Hospital, Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Peking University People’s Hospital, Peking University Third Hospital and several other public and private medical institutions.
Shanghai’s municipal government lists international medical services at multiple hospitals, including Ruijin Hospital, Zhongshan Hospital, Huashan Hospital, Renji Hospital and other public and foreign-funded facilities. Service languages, hours, contact methods and direct-pay insurance arrangements vary by institution.
The answer depends on the cancer type, stage and treatment required. Major academic cancer centers such as Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center and Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center are important disease-specific referral options. Fuda may be relevant when the question involves selected minimally invasive or interventional techniques. Complex cases should be matched to the appropriate department rather than one universal ranking.
Fuwai Hospital in Beijing is a major cardiovascular specialist center and has a government-listed International Medical Department. Zhongshan Hospital in Shanghai is another important cardiovascular hospital entity. The best fit still depends on whether the patient needs electrophysiology, structural heart intervention, coronary surgery, valve surgery, congenital treatment or another cardiac subspecialty.
Some hospitals and international offices provide remote file review or online consultation, but the scope varies. SYSUCC states that its international office can review medical files before arrival to check whether treatment may be possible, while some hospitals provide formal remote consultation services. A pre-travel review does not guarantee admission or a final treatment plan.
Some international medical departments have direct-pay arrangements with selected commercial insurers. For example, Shanghai’s government international-medical listings publish insurer networks for several hospitals, and PUMCH provides commercial-insurance services. Coverage must be confirmed with both the hospital and insurer before treatment.
Visa requirements depend on nationality, planned length of stay and current Chinese entry rules. Some hospital international offices provide visa advice or supporting documentation, but patients should confirm the correct visa route for their circumstances before travel.
Send the current diagnosis, pathology if relevant, recent CT/MRI/PET-CT or other imaging, laboratory results, previous operations and treatments, medication history, biomarkers/genetics when relevant and a concise medical summary. The required records depend on the specialty and disease.
